House Tour: Bathroom and Kyper's Room

Next stop on the house tour is the bathroom and Kyper's room.

The bathroom.  We were lucky with this one.  Some Dearborn homes have crazy colored bathrooms.  This one was super neutral.  Our landlords even left the shower curtain and rugs since they matched.  Thanks!

We really should have invested in 3M stock.  We use 3M hooks for everything including towels

We bought this at Lowes for a steal ($16 when it is originally $60)  I fit a dowel and hung a fun towel to hide some of the stuff we keep on the shelves.  Out of sight, out of mind right?

Now, for Kyper's room.  The landlords had a boy, so one room was already blue.  We decided to let Kyper have that one.  (The other room is purple and is being used as a catch all room...you probably won't see a picture of that one anytime soon. ;))

Kyper's growth chart--a b-day gift from Aren and Leah.  It fit really well in the theme of his room.

House Tour: Kitchen

Here are some pictures from our kitchen (plus entry way).  This is the nicest kitchen we have ever had.  The owners re-did it about 2 years ago.  It is amazing.

This is what you see when you walk in the side door--stairs to our basement

The entryway.  On the right is a nice big cupboard

Kyper turns 2 and party at the Cottage

Kyper turned 2 on July 14.  Unfortunately, Kyper was sick two days before his birthday.  We had planned to go to the zoo with friends, but since he had been sick we took it easy on his actual birthday.

We actually did a little bit bigger celebration on Saturday, so I didn't make a cake for the 14th.  Instead, we had one of his favorite meals--pancakes!  We figured it was a type of cake, so we put his candle in that.

He looked at that candle with such concentration or angry.  Not sure which. :)

A closer look at his face.

I think we were singing "Happy Birthday"  Apparently, he got over the candle.

He blew it out all by himself.
We did let him open gifts.

Kyper's first IOU.  We got him fish for his birthday.  We wanted to wait until we came back from the cottage.  Unfortunately, they only lasted two days once we did get them.

Presents

Yes, we got him a potty for his birthday.  We have no intention of potty training right now, we just want him to get used to the idea and pretend until he is ready.

On to his bigger celebration:

My parents were up at the cottage, so we headed there.  We invited Joel's parents and his brother and sister-in-law for the day.  My brothers and their families were up there too.  It was a great day.  Hot and sunny.  Perfect for the cottage.  We had a grill out for dinner--hamburgers and hot dogs.  After dinner we had a birthday cake/cupcakes.  Then it was time to open presents.

Kyper loved the Sea-Doo

Maybe he can do it if he gets a little closer?  Yep.

Aren and Leah gave him a growth chart--so cute and will go great in his bedroom.

A nice paddle boat ride with Aunt Jen and Aunt Joy.

A few days later we got his present from Grandpa and Grandma Koning in the mail--it is a little tykes climber and slide.  Thanks!  He is enjoying it!

Happy birthday to my little man!

General Happenings

Joel turned 29 on June 22.
He got Magnum bars for his gift.

Kyper is asking where the fire went.
We had a power outage the weekend of the 4th--44 hours without power.  That is no fun.  Fortunately, we have amazing friends.  One gave us a ride to church as well as a wagon to borrow.  (We couldn't get into our garage--they had just installed an automatic garage door and there was no other way in.)  We also had a friend that found us a generator for the last day.  We were able to plug our fridge/freezer into it, so we hardly lost any food.
Kyper had fun with the borrowed wagon.

Tim, Melanie and Judah came to visit.  Judah was born on May 31.  He is so cute.  We went to Port Huron with them and had a beach day.

Judah, do you like the water?

Love his face in this one.

Kyper needs his "coffee" in the morning

Kyper loved baby Judah.
We celebrated Kyper's second birthday--this will be a separate post.  We went to Grand Haven to celebrate Joel's cousins' wedding reception.  After the reception we walked on the Ferrysburg pier.

Here are just some other fun pictures:
